A page link opens the page you are looking at, in the app as it runs on this canvas right now, for anyone who has the link. No Modeinspect account is needed. Use it to show an engineer the exact page before you ask for a change, or right after the agent made one.
Before you start
A canvas with a Portal whose app has started, see Add a Portal to the canvas.
Steps
In Build Mode:
Go to the page you want to share, see Open Build Mode and move around your app.
Click the link icon at the left end of the address bar, Copy link to this page. The toast reads "Page link copied", or "Link copied" when you are on the app's start page.
The same button sits in the address bar of the preview window that Open preview opens over the canvas.
On the canvas:
Select the Portal. The design panel shows Preview link with the path of the page the Portal is on,
/for the start page.Click Copy on that row. The toast reads "Link copied".
Paste the link into your chat or ticket. The engineer opens it in their browser without signing in and lands on the page you were on. From there they can click through the rest of the app.
Warning: A page link cannot be revoked. Anyone who has it can open the app on this canvas until the link expires, 7 days after you copied it. Each copy is a new link with its own 7 days, and copying again does not cut the older ones short.
The page behind the link is live. What the engineer sees is the app at the moment they open it, with every change the agent has built on this canvas by then. For a copy that stays as it is, use a preview link, see Create a preview link.
If it does not work
The link icon is greyed out and its tooltip reads "Preview links are disabled for this organization.": your organization has preview links turned off. Contact support to have them turned on.
The toast reads "Couldn't create the link. Try again.": the link could not be made. Click the button again.
The engineer sees a blank page that says "Unauthorized": the link is older than 7 days, or it was pasted without the long part after
preview_token=. Copy a new one and send the whole address.
